Sew Mama Sew Giveaway! Woot!

Yahoooo!  It's time! I'm participating in the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway!  See this logo proves it!  Isn't it exciting? You could have a free cut and sew kit in your hands in just a week or two if you just continue reading.

You cook right?  And cooking can be messy right? Especially if you have a 3 year old who wants to get his or her fingers right into the bowl and then after licking their fingers must wipe the rest of it up on your clothes.

Well, I have just the kit for you (even if you don't have a 3 year old and even if you don't actually cook...you could use it while cleaning the house, but it really is cute in the kitchen especially if you have FiestaWare dishes).  You can win (ding, ding, ding!) this apron kit by simply posting your favorite easy recipe (or a link to a recipe) and in a few days (on May 25th to be exact) I'll randomly choose one of you to receive a A Tribute to Fiestaware apron kit!  It's that easy.

It'd be great if you followed me (that would be swell), you don't have to make 500 of your twitter followers follow me with a link back (but if you have 500 twitter followers I'm suitably impressed), all you have to do is the recipe thing AND include a way for me to contact you.  If I can't contact you I have to choose another! I will ship internationally so don't be shy, comment away!

Ohhhh, you wanna see the apron?  It's free you know!  But here it is modeled by my best friend.  And here it is with some fab Fiesta dishes.

If  you want to see the pattern kit go here to Spoonflower (btw, I have tons of designs there: cruise them if you're in the mood to check out a slew of fabric designs) the directions are printed right on the kit, all you need to do it cut it out and sew it up!  What could be easier? I know, having your significant other go out and get a fabulous dinner for you would be easier and if your partner does that then you can still WEAR the apron so you'll match the dishes you'll surely eat from right?

Ok, commence with the recipes...I'm hungry and I really want to try some out!

Oh and p.s. All my commenters so far have blogs! Go read them, give them some bloggy love!

  1. my fave easiest 'recipe' is just sooo easy haha. I'm not a great one for following instructions ;) Here goes ~ Cherry tomatoes, ripe avacado, mozzarella, fresh torn basil and french crunchy bagette. A drizzle of olive oil, a grind of sea salt... and I'm in heaven. And I need an apron because it's a messy slimey crumby yummy affair. Oh yes. Great giveaway! thanks for the chance to win!

  5. I DO have Fiestware and I love it! This is SO CUTE! My favorite cooking tip involves driving to the nearest eatery - trust me on this...if I cook it, you don't want it! HA! But I do love wearing aprons to do the dishes and clean and this one is too cute! jinglesells at gmail dot com

  6. What a cute apron. My favorite easy dish is pot-pie casserole, but it's never the same twice. I cook 4-6 of Marie Callender's frozen pot pies (it is important to cook the pot pies so that the crust is crispy not soggy), then mix them in a casserole dish with frozen or canned vegetables and some shredded cheese, then bake at 350 for about 20 minutes. I find it is particularly good with a bag of frozen broccoli cheese and a can of corn. I would love to hear what your opinion is if you try it.

Thank you so much for your generous giveaway!

  11. OK so this is too late...and out of season... but my family loves my (easy peasy) Eggnog Cake. Yellow cake mix, substitute eggnog for whatever liquid it calls for add nutmeg to taste & bake according to package directions. I make it in mini loaf pans with heavily buttered sides which I coat with sliced almonds. Putting the almonds on is the hardest part of the recipe.

  12. Easy as either cookie bar or cookies: 1 cup peanut butter crunchy or smooth; 1/2 cup sugar; 1 egg: Mix well. For cookies, drop on to cookie sheet with spoon. Smash center of each drop with spoon. For bar, pour into pan. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes. Cool for a few minutes then place unwrapped Hersey Kiss in each center. For bar put Hersey Bar on top and let melt. MMM good!

  13. I personally love to grill peaches as a side dish for dinners in the summer. I know it is not much of a "recipe" but it is certainly delicious!

  14. My easiest recipe goes like this: Turn on toaster oven. Place a piece of parchment paper on a pan. "Throw" cut up veggies of any kind and combo — such as carrots, asparagus, beets, rutabagas, brocolli,or cauliflower — into pan. Toss with olive oil and garlic powder, and a bit of balsamic vinegar. Place pan into toaster oven. Voila, about 20 minutes or so later (depending on what you consider tender), food is ready to eat. :-)

  15. My latest favorite is pretty easy. 1 box cake mix (I like lemon), 1 can pumpkin, 3 eggs. Mix it all together and bake in a 9x12 pan for 30-40 minutes. Really great dusted with powdered sugar, or frosted with cream cheese frosting.

  18. If I won the kit I would go get the Fiesta Ware to match:) Love it. I've been on an eggs kick lately. I saute pre chopped veggies from Trader Joes refrigerated section in a bit of olive oil and some Mrs Dash Garlic Herb spices, add an egg, all mixed up with a bit of milk and when it's about done I add some freshly chopped tomatoes and a piece of Fresh Mozzarella just so it melts a bit. A side of fruit and toast and it's all good!

  19. Cute apron! My almost-3-year-old is terrible with the wiping-glad to hear it is age appropriate, lol. My easy recipe is to put some pork loin roast or boneless pork ribs in a crock pot with 1/4-1/2 cup of apple juice, drizzle the top with honey, then sprinkle whichever herbs you like (I use garlic, black pepper, oregano, basil, and chili powder usually-today I added some rosemary and sage too). Cook on low 6-8 hours or until cooked through and soft and fall-aparty. Add potatoes cut in quarters or thirds and carrots cut in thirds or baby carrots about an hour or two before you want to eat (much earlier and they'll turn to mush-that should be long enough to be toddler safe though.)

  20. That is a cute apron. Thanks for the chance to win. BBQ chicken and rice. Cook boneless skinless chicken, season with pepper and garlic salt and cook with onion. Cook minute rice with bbq sauce. Cut up chicken and add to rice. Add cooked corn (canned or frozen). More fun in dutch oven, but will work at home too.

  28. OH my gosh--I don't have fiestaware--except for a teapot that I display in my craftroom. HOWEVER, I do have four cats and so I can't resist this apron! Sooo purrfect! LOL Easy recipe--though probably not too light in calories--still a great meal when you plan to spend the day sewing!

For the crockpot: 4 chicken breasts, 1 can cream of chicken soup, 8 Oz of cream cheese, 1 packet of italian dressing seasoning. Put chicken, soup and seasoning in crockpot-cook for 4 hours. Add the cream cheese, and cook for one more hour. Remove the chicken and stir the sauce. Serve over mashed potatoes.

  30. This is an easy and healthy alternative to cheesecake and I swear it really tastes good. . . Take graham crackers and crumble them, now scoop on some cottage cheese and top with honey and cinnamon. Eat and enjoy. A "guilt free" snack that is actually good for you!

  32. A nice summer dinner is müesli. You make 6 servings worth of oatmeal and let it cool. Then mix it with a large container of your favorite fruit flavored yogurt and add cut up or diced fresh fruit. One of my favorites is bananas, apples and raisons. You can also add nuts if you like. Serve with toasted garlic/parmesan bread. It's easy to scale the recipe up or down by having less or more oatmeal/yogurt. And I wish I had fiesta ware.

  33. I love the apron! Here's a GREAT carrot salad recipe:
    Uncle Jack's Vegan Carrot Salad

1.25 cups of shredded carrots or the 10 oz package of shoe string carrots
half a cup of chopped scallions/green onion
6 tsp of minced garlic (or several 'pressed' cloves)
    2 tbsp of olive oil
2 tbsp of apple cider vinager
1 tbsp of unsalted sunflower seeds

    Combine all ingredients!

Stir/shake well to distribute oil and vinager.

Add more or less of any of the ingredients to your desired taste.

This is delicious if you make it an hour or so ahead of time so the flavors can marry.

Put in refrigerator until ready to eat for a nice cool salad.

    makes roughly 8 servings.

    Number of Servings: 8
